What is the PopArchive?

The Philippine Population Data Archive (PopArchive) is a data management system that preserves important Philippine data sets on population and other related topics. It enables researchers, practitioners, planners, and policy-makers to have easy access to them.

Secondary analysis of these data is encouraged by:
(1)  making machine-readable data
       available;
(2)  providing easy reference to variables
       available in the survey data and;
(3)  offering custom and bibliographic
       search facilities.

Objectives

The PopArchive data bank system has three major objectives:

Data Uses

The machine readable data from the PopArchive propose varied prospects for further academic endeavors:

  Provide aid in teaching students and
      professionals about Statistics, data
      analysis, and population related
      matters using real life data.

  Data can be used for comparing
      different populations and other
      demographic indicators through time
      by Trend Analysis and the like.

  The collection can be analyzed not
      only by population practitioners but
      also by other social scientists and
      researchers as well.

  Data can be used as a baseline for
      future researches.

  Data would be useful for students
      who would be writing their research
      papers.
