The Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (DRDF), established in 1983, is a non-profit, non-stock private organization registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission that aims to promote and undertake research, training and other related activities in population and development. More specifically, DRDF as a group of population and development specialists aims: (1) to undertake studies in the general area of population and development, (2) to lend technical expertise in planning, policy formulation, project conceptualization, project implementation, human resource development in population and development, and (3) to disseminate important, policy-relevant and research-based information.
In pursuing its mission and vision, DRDF works closely with the UP Population Institute (UPPI), with whom it has special working relationship and arrangements. DRDF is temporarily housed in the UPPI premises. They share library resources (e.g. books, journals, electronic references), facilities and human resources, creating a synergistic environment for the improvement of the quality of demographic studies and research outputs.
DRDF is an active player in the Philippine demographic arena, working closely with other organizations. It is an active member of the Philippine Population Association (PPA), Philippine NGO Council on Population, Health and Welfare, Inc. (PNGOC), and Reproductive Health Advocacy Network (RHAN). It is accredited by the Department of Science and Technology.
The Demographic Research and Development Foundation, Inc. (DRDF) is the leading center for scientifically sound, rigorous and cutting-edge research and capacity development in demography and population studies in the Asia-Pacific region.
DRDF supports the University of the Philippines Population Institute (UPPI) in the conduct of :
1. Scientific research,
2. Capacity development in demography and population studies,
3. Publication of scholarly research, and
4. Dissemination of population-related information
for policy formulation, program implementation, and for the general public.
It operates within the core tenet of achieving excellence in contributing to
human development in support of the nation’s goals and aspirations.
