Females can expect to live longer than males. In 2000, the life expectancy at birth in the Philippines was 63.96 years for males and 71.36 years for females (Cabigon, 2008).

At the current annual growth rate of 2.04, the Philippine population is expected to double in 35 years. This rate of growth translates to three births per minute (UPPI-DRDF, 2008).

An increasing proportion of adolescents have engaged in premarital sex, from 18% in 1994 to 23% in 2002 (2002 YAFS).

Mimaropa, Zamboanga Peninsula, and ARMM have the highest percentage of teenage pregnancies at 19.7%, 18.8%, and 14.9%, respectively (2003 NDHS).

The older population is the fastest growing sector of the Philippine population, with a growth rate from 1995 to 2000 of 4.6 percent.
