Dr. Josefina Cabigon is 2009 NRCP Distinguished Scientist Awardee

Dr. Josefina V. Cabigon, UPPI professor, was one of 11 scientists who received the 2009 National Research Council of the Philippines (NRCP) Distinguished Scientist Award on March 10, 2010. The award was given during the NRCP’s 77th General Assembly with the theme "Facing the Challenges of Climate Change Through Science & Technology" at the Manila Hotel. Dr. Cabigon was honored for her outstanding research on population studies and reproductive rights.  

Together with Dr. Cabigon, the following were also given this distinction:

Dr. Windell L. Rivera (molecular diagnostics and epidemiology of protozoan parasites)

Dr. Maricor N. Soriano (imaging and pattern recognition)
Dr. Drexel H. Camacho (semiconductor industry)
Prof. Mauricia D. Borromeo (ethnomusicological research)
Dr. Nathaniel T. Servando (weather analysis)
Dr. Mauro F. Manuel (veterinary parasitology and protozoology)
 

According to NRCP executive director Napoleon P. Hernandez, "They belong to the distinguished men and women who have helped shape the science and technology structure of the country for nearly 80 years.”
