About
The UPPI Library

The UP Population Institute Library is housed within the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (Palma Hall) building. It serves students, faculty, and staff of the university as well as outside researchers and practitioners engaged in population and related research from academic institutions, non-government organizations, and other government agencies. Each year, it strives to sustain and improve its collection of books, journals, and related information.

History

The UPPI Library was established in 1965 as part of the UP Population Institute. The latter then became connected with the College of Social Sciences and Philosophy (CSSP) in 1982.

The library was established in support to the Institute's objectives:
   training of demographers;
   serving as the focal academic institute in the dissemination
       of knowledge in the field of population; and
   implementing a program of research in population and related
       issues significant for development planning and policy
       formulation purposes.

Today, the UPPI Library still continues to serve the students and researchers by providing information in more efficient ways through modern technology.
